We are seeking a results-oriented Email Marketing Strategist who specializes in bridging the gap between high-level strategy, compelling design, and technical execution. The ideal candidate understands that effective email marketing is a sophisticated blend of timing, relevance, and data-driven intent. We need a professional who can expertly navigate the complexities of audience segmentation and lifecycle mapping to ensure every campaign serves a specific business objective.

In this role, you will act as a key advisor for our clients, translating their growth goals into high-performing automated email workflows and email blasts. You should possess a deep understanding of consumer behavior and a commitment to maintaining brand integrity across every touchpoint. If you are a proactive communicator who can manage both the creative vision and the analytical performance of a robust email program, you will thrive within the Kraken team.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING

Your day-to-day will involve mapping out full life-cycle messaging, from the first "Welcome" to the "We Miss You" win-back, as well as strategizing email blasts. You will be responsible for the strategic design and oversight of automated workflows, transactional triggers, and high-impact promotional campaigns. In this role, you’ll develop the logic and wireframes for these sequences, then collaborate closely with our Friendly Kraken™ team on the strategy's technical implementation and setup, which may involve you or an email developer building out the necessary workflows and emails.

You’ll work hand-in-hand with Kraken’s designers and copywriters to ensure every email is fresh, attractive, and functionally sound across all devices. And you’ll communicate with clients on strategy and email proof approvals.

This is a contractor position, but for the right Krakenaut who proves they can drive results and manage clients with ease, there is significant potential for this to evolve into a full-time role as the workload increases.

WHAT SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES YOU NEED

Strategic Vision: You understand the distinct roles of promotional emails, transactional updates, and lifecycle communications, and segment audiences strategically to ensure high deliverability and conversion.

Design Eye: While you’ll work with our creative team, you need a strong grasp of email design and wireframing. You should know what looks modern and attractive and what drives a click.

Client-Facing Confidence: You can lead a meeting over video chat, present a strategy (including how to reach a client's goal and optimize their email efforts), and handle the "proof and approval" process professionally.

Data-Driven Optimizer: You go beyond simple reporting by continuously analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) like open rates, click-through rates, and open-to-click rates. Your approach is iterative; you proactively optimize workflows and never rely on a "set it and forget it" strategy.

Team-Building Abilities: As client needs grow, you’ll need to be able to help recruit email developers who can build emails well and on-time.

Compliance & Technical Expertise: You possess a deep understanding of email compliance laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act, and various technical requirements (e.g., deliverability, authentication protocols like SPF/DKIM/DMARC) to ensure emails reach the inbox legally and reliably.

AI Fluency: Familiarity with using AI to assist in subject line testing, personalized hooks, or segmentation logic, balanced with the human touch to keep it authentic.

ESP Expertise: Proven success leveraging the full potential of GoHighLevel and/or Sendy for advanced email marketing strategies.

Deliverability Mastery: Deep knowledge of technical email sending components, including domain health, IP/domain warming, DMARC, SPF, and DKIM setup and monitoring.
