
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for social media specialists who understand that good social content isn’t just about posting. It’s about representing a brand well, consistently, and on purpose while also not being boring. You should enjoy learning a client’s voice, audience, and goals, then working closely with creatives and strategists to turn that understanding into clear, on-brand content each month.
This role is ideal for someone who can move quickly, collaborate well with others, and confidently show examples of social media channels they’ve managed.
What you’d be doing
You’ll work alongside Kraken’s creative and strategy teams to help plan, create, and manage social media content for Kraken and our clients. Your responsibilities will include understanding each client’s brand voice and positioning; helping translate strategy into monthly social content plans; collaborating with designers and copywriters to produce posts efficiently; scheduling and publishing content; and monitoring performance to spot patterns, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
You’ll also help ensure content stays consistent, intentional, and aligned with client goals, not just “posted for the sake of posting.” Occasionally, you may assist with light reporting, internal reviews, or client-facing discussions around what’s working and what’s not.
The amount of work available will vary month-to-month. This role is well suited for a freelancer who values flexibility, can manage multiple brands at once, and has availability for regular meetings during normal business hours.
What skills & attributes you need
We hire U.S.-based contractors who communicate clearly and professionally in English. You should have hands-on experience managing social media channels for brands or businesses and be comfortable adapting your approach based on different audiences and industries. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with a creative team are essential.
But we’re not looking for someone who can take a brand/industry that’s dry and keep creating dry, consistent content for it. We need someone who can make interesting, entertaining posts for clients ranging from developers to law firms and payment processors to pump manufacturers. And you’ll get to work with our own fun Kraken brand, too.
You must be able to show examples of social media accounts you’ve managed, including the type of content you created and your role in the process.
What would help you look even more qualified
Experience working with agencies or multiple client brands at once will help you stand out, as will familiarity with scheduling tools and task management platforms like Asana. An understanding of social media analytics and how to interpret performance trends is a plus.
A working knowledge of AI tools for ideation or drafting — paired with the judgment to know when AI output needs refinement, rewriting, or rejection — is highly valued. Experience collaborating closely with designers, copywriters, or strategists will also make onboarding smoother.
